Hotel Las Islas, operated by Aviatur Group, was conceived as an Eco-luxury Hotel; for this reason it has a high environmental commitment. Hotel Las Islas is located in the Barú Island, Cartagena de Indias in Colombia and is surrounded by a tropical forest that offers beachfront bungalows and tree houses.

Each bungalow is named after an island of the different island sub-regions of Colombia: Pacific, San Bernardo Archipelago, San Andrés and Providencia Archipelago, Rosario Islands and an island located in the Amazon River.

The Hotel is located on a 20ha property and is part of the collection of "The Leading Hotels of The World". Las Islas is a sophisticated refuge, conscious of the natural environment in which it is immersed in.

Being part of Grupo Empresarial Aviatur, it is committed to the responsible use of resources through the implementation of actions to mitigate environmental degradation in the natural environment.

Conservation & Community Highlights:

1. Recovery of Barú’s coral reefs
2. Creation of red mangrove seedbeds for reforestation activities in areas that have been affected by anthropogenic activity
3. Planting of native trees to support the different reforestation processes in the insular zone
4. Supporting Aviatur Foundation, purchasing sarongs and blankets made by mothers who are heads of households in the community of Barú
5. Rehabilitation of animals that have been subjected to illegal trafficking

Future Aims:

1. Create environmental conservation groups
2. Support solid waste management and management processes in the community of Barú
3. To recover the barrier reef of the Barú nearest islands
4. Create agreements with local authorities for the protection of flora and fauna
5. Carry out comprehensive waste collection in low tide areas to mitigate the impact generated by microplastics in the ocean
